ACP Support
Run Kodine from any editor that speaks ACP.
Kodine implements the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), so you can drive it from editors and IDEs that understand the protocol.
ACP is an open standard that defines how code editors and AI coding agents talk to each other.
Configure
Point your editor at the kodine acp command to hook Kodine up over ACP.
Running it launches Kodine as an ACP-compatible subprocess; the editor and Kodine exchange JSON-RPC messages over stdio.
The sections below show setup for several widely used ACP-enabled editors.
Zed
Kodine is listed in the Zed ACP Registry — run zed: acp registry from the Command Palette to install it.
If you’d rather point Zed at your own Kodine binary, add an entry to your Zed settings (~/.config/zed/settings.json):
{ "agent_servers": { "Kodine": { "type": "custom", "command": "kodine", "args": ["acp"] } }}Launch it with the agent: new thread action from the Command Palette.
A keyboard shortcut works too — edit your keymap.json:
[ { "bindings": { "cmd-alt-o": [ "agent::NewExternalAgentThread", { "agent": { "custom": { "name": "Kodine", "command": { "command": "kodine", "args": ["acp"] } } } } ] } }]JetBrains IDEs
Following the JetBrains documentation, add an entry to the acp.json of your JetBrains IDE:
{ "agent_servers": { "Kodine": { "command": "/absolute/path/bin/kodine", "args": ["acp"] } }}Then pick the new ‘Kodine’ agent from the AI Chat agent selector to open a session.
Avante.nvim
Add this to your Avante.nvim setup:
{ acp_providers = { ["kodine"] = { command = "kodine", args = { "acp" } } }}To pass environment variables along:
{ acp_providers = { ["kodine"] = { command = "kodine", args = { "acp" }, env = { KODINE_API_KEY = os.getenv("KODINE_API_KEY") } } }}CodeCompanion.nvim
Register Kodine as an ACP agent in CodeCompanion.nvim by adding this to your Neovim config:
require("codecompanion").setup({ interactions = { chat = { adapter = { name = "kodine", model = "kodine-code", }, }, },})With this in place, CodeCompanion routes chat through Kodine as its ACP agent.
To pass environment variables (such as KODINE_API_KEY), see Configuring Adapters: Environment Variables in the CodeCompanion.nvim docs for the details.

Kodine behaves the same over ACP as it does in the terminal, with every feature available:
- Built-in tools such as file operations and terminal commands
- Your custom tools and slash commands
- MCP servers defined in your Kodine configuration
- Per-project rules loaded from
AGENTS.md - Custom formatters and linters
- The agents and permissions system
